Joyeux Noël - Merry Christmas!

Meet our Christmas family! With the DTS off to Guatemala and our staff number small, the last few weeks have been about building family. A time for everyone to get closer and learn to have a relationship that isn’t based out of ministry or obligation.

Normally our meals on base are held in the dining room; a nice room meant to hold 20 - 30 people eating at the same time. Most of us associate it with an agenda: just, eat, clean up, and leave, then we can relax. So to have the ability to bring all the staff up into our home for dinners has been amazing. We also included everyone with our family for Christmas Brunch and Dinner… no one allowed to be alone for the holiday!

Fun Facts about Christmas in France

  • Turkey: nearly impossible to find at Thanksgiving, but everyone has it for Christmas dinner

  • Fruit cake is delicious

  • We were blessed with a generous gift of three traditional bûche de Noël, which we got to share on Christmas Eve with the base!

  • Gingerbread is called “spiced bread” (Pain d'épices) and isn’t cookies - or the same flavor. We have yet to find molasses in stores (or gingerbread men cookie cutters!)

We (and the kids!) have cherished this time of learning how to incorporate our own holiday traditions with those of our new country, bringing people closer, and blessing those around us. We are immensely grateful for all that God has given us here, and are overwhelmed with gratitude for the love, support and prayers that you have given us along our journey.

We wouldn’t be here without YOU!

As we begin the new year, we pray that the Lord will bless you and renew your strength and vision.
